Eco-Friendly Makeup Accessories

Despite eco-friendly being all the rage, somehow people forget about the accessories.  We have the environmentally friendly makeup, but does it make a difference if it was put on with an applicator that was tested on animals?  And isn’t recycled?  Makeup accessories are some of the more important things in the makeup world, how can you put makeup on without a brush?  And how can you see said makeup without a mirror?

One great makeup trick that I love is using eyeshadow as eyeliner.  A lot of times it can be hard to find that perfect shade in a liner, so make your own!  But to do this, you need the right brush.  I love the eyeliner brush by e.l.f.  It is small and compact enough to give a clean, precise line, but when used the right way can still give a smudged mod look.  If you want perfect, smoky liner, use the brush with dry eyeshadow.  This will give you a dark and smudged look.  To make the look more intense, use a bread knife effect by going back and forth to make an even more smudged and smoky look.

To get a clean, precise look, wet the brush first.  Dip the bristles in water before dipping into the eyeshadow.  This will create a faux gel liner, which is great and easy for the perfect line and flick.  Try to do the line in one swipe, but if you can’t double over a bit so you are sure there are no gaps.  Be sure to get the line as close to your lash line as possible to create a smooth and clean look. If you need, you can clean the line up a little with a Q-Tip.

The best thing about this brush, besides its versatility, is how environmentally friendly it is.  With vegan bristles, recycled ferrules, and a bamboo handle, this brush is about to save the forests on its own.

Of course, how can you get such a great makeup look without a mirror?  I am crazy over GRAIN’s handheld mirror.  It is made of different patterns from the Pacific Northwest. All of its mirrored glass, wood, felt, hemp twine, and bamboo is from the Pacific Northwest, here in the USA.  GRAIN also is a member of the 1% For The Planet, an organization that companies can join to give a percent of their profits back to the planet or “back to the blue”.  GRAIN also supports ethical design.
